Has it been a whole week since the Envision adventure already? A thousand thanks to all who patiently waited in line for up to an hour to get in the door! Thankfully it was a very pleasant evening for being outside... I hope you made some new friends in line 😃.
More on Envision later, but first I wanted to tell you about the annual juried Abstracts show at 311 Gallery in downtown Raleigh. I'm thrilled that "Goddess of the Dance" was one of the 80 or so artworks chosen from hundreds of entries!
Please join us for the Opening Reception this Friday! The other galleries in Raleigh will also be holding their First Friday receptions, so make it an evening of art!
WHERE: 311 Gallery, 311 West Martin St., Raleigh, NC 27601
WHEN: First Friday, March 2, 6 - 9:30 p.
The show runs to March 31st.
So now... how was Envision? First let me say how efficient, friendly and organized the show crew were... they have this thing down to a science. Load in and setup were pretty easy, especially as hubby was able to help. I had done a mockup of my display in our garage, so I had my space (only 4x6 ft when I'm used to a 10x10!) pretty much figured out. The transformation of a roomful of boxes and display hardware into an art show is always fascinating!
The crowd was large as promised, but too large for the number of ticket scanners at the door. I think that having to wait for up to an hour to get in was unacceptable! What if it had been raining or snowing? That said, the guests were in good spirits once they got in and appreciated the art, and the uniqueness of the event. My usual art show is a pretty casual affair... it was fun to see the other artists as well as guests dressed to the nines for that evening!
My favorite part of the stage show was the runway fashion show - there were some really creative designs! These are just a few -
My only complaint about the show itself was the noise level, since the art booths were so close to the stage and talking with patrons was quite a challenge. But I'm happy to say that I still made some sales and introduced my art to lots of new people.
Having done a RAW showcase where I had to sell tickets, I get to do another one for free! I'm thinking of trying one in New York or even Toronto, as I've never shown my work there and have family in both places... we'll see!
Thanks for reading and maybe see you at 311 on Friday!
