Thankfully, a rainy evening wasn't enough to dampen spirits or keep people away from an enjoyable Final Friday at Village Art Circle, for the opening of Deborah Sanks' Colorful Expressions in Oil and my Wearing the Color Wheel.Lyrical music from harpist and guitarist Stevan Jackson was the icing on the cake and made the evening very special. I painted a scarf during the evening and it was especially enjoyable painting to his music. I always have music on my studio, but I've never painted to live music before... I hope I get to do it again! The show is up until April 24th. The gallery is at 200 S Academy St in Cary, NC. Gallery hours are Wednesday - Saturday 11 - 5.
Deborah's paintings were inspired by her recent trip to the Bahamas. That little taste of the tropics made me feel quite homesick!
Here's the result of the scarf I started that evening. It makes a bold statement! To go with the music, I painted a flow-y design with lots of movement.
It's available for purchase now at the gallery.
