The art of silk painting with its liquid colors spreading and blending across the silk, its mysterious creation of surprise textures, is one that is one that is guaranteed to bring smiles to the painter. My most recent workshop was no different. My class was a mixture of total beginners and those who had already done some silk painting. The most frequent comment as they began painting was, "This is so cool!"
With some good practice under the belt, it's now time to paint the 'real' thing, which is a 22" square pre-hemmed scarf. Some brought their own designs and others used my drawings but developed their own design.
The following photos show painting in progress and the finished scarves.
UPDATE: At home, Lanaya lost no time in quilting her design and making it into a pillow. I'm sure the friend who received this gift was delighted!
