Last weekend I was one of 18 artists on the Western Wake Artists Studio Tour who shared our art with the public from our homes. My work was set up throughout our downstairs area and I set up a table with a stretched scarf and dyes to show people my materials and a bit about how I paint (first photo). I displayed scarves, paintings, prints and note cards.
For the scarf I drew an easy design with resist that I could just make up and draw freehand as I went along while talking to people. I thought that what I came up with looked like a sun with rays flowing out of it. I dithered for a while over what color to paint the background of the scarf, but I chose black because it's a color I hardly ever use and I felt like doing something different. The black makes the hot colors really pop, and a lavender border cools things down just a bit.
Unfortunately my visitors and sales were down this year compared to previous years but I think the weekend was still worthwhile, and I'll do it again next year!.
Thanks for visiting today... have a great weekend! [signoff]
