The previous 2 posts showed the progression on this commissioned batik painting. Now it's done! With the wax removed you can see how much it has lightened up and the crackle pattern is now visible. I'm quite happy with the crackle... it's so easy to overwhelm a painting with too much crackle but I think this is just the right amount.
The blue in this piece is one of my client's favorite colors and we've decided to call this painting 'Marcia's Blue'.
So the painting itself is done, but now what's left is to mount the silk onto stretched canvas so it'll have a firm backing and be ready to hang.
