Here's another painting-to-scarf project, starting with my silk painting 'Falling Flower', a semi-abstract floral.
Falling Flower, 9 x 12. Dyes and resist on silk
Again playing with the image in Photoshop and using the result as a reference for my scarf, I came up with a design that put the main flower at both ends of the scarf. Petal shapes recede into the background in several layers painted one on top the other. Within each of these background petal shapes are other tiny flower and leaf shapes. From a distance they make the design look sort of watery, so I called this scarf 'Flower Pond'.
