Artists by the nature of our profession are often solitary creatures in our work environments. This is one reason I'm thankful for local arts groups that give us a chance to socialize with other like-minded solitary creatures. Another benefit is more opportunities to show our work, as part of the group. Thanks to the Fine Arts League of Cary (FALC) and the Durham Art Guild (DAG), here are the silk paintings I have on exhibit now in my area.
These two semi-abstract batik paintings are at the Cary Ballet Conservancy, 3791 NW Cary Parkway, Cary NC until April 27th. FALC members have ongoing rotating exhibits here and I've been fortunate to have sold some paintings here in the past few years.
This is another batik technique piece, not so abstract! Inspired by a photo taken by beader and photographer Beverly Ash Gilbert, and featuring a poem she wrote about her photo. Cherry Blossoms 'n Lace is at DAG's Members Show in the SunTrust Gallery at 120 Morris St. in Durham. The show runs from February 17th - April 8th.
If you're in the Cary or Durham NC area, please stop in!
