So after dithering for ages about moving my blog over to WordPress, I finally took the plunge last weekend. My blog and eventually website address is now http://www.deborahyounglao.com. I've been nervous about moving since I had been reading stories of other bloggers who lost followers, subscribers and/or images when changing blogging platforms. I eventually discovered that there are folks who know what they are doing, who will do this stuff for you. I used Blogger to WordPress. They just take a few hours to do a blog migration, ensuring that all your stuff stays intact and nothing falls off the UHaul truck during the move. Communication was always propmpt and I'd recommend them if you're considering trying out WordPress. Click here to visit their website and get a quotation!
Well they've done their part; now I've got to spend some time feeling my way around WordPress - it looks like the learning curve is going to be steep but I think (hope!) it will be worth it. I decided to go with the paid self hosted version at wordpress.org, rather than the free version at wordpress.com, since it seems more versatile. I want make a complete website here and will be gradually adding portfolio pages for my work.
So please pardon my dust while I remodel - my site will probably look a bit raggedy for quite a while! One thing I like is the threaded comments format, which I much prefer to blogger's. Please go leave me comment so I can see how the threaded thingy works!
I'd love your feedback on the draft of my new logo that I just designed - I want to convey the feeling of dyes moving across the silk. Any thoughts or suggestions for how I can improve it?
