OK, so I've been bitten by the shibori bug! This thing is really addictive, I think because of the element of surprise. These 2 scarves were created by the pole wrap method, where the silk is folded, then twisted around a pole and painted.
There is absolutely no way to know what the result will be... the design is only revealed when the silk is unwrapped. Yes you can decide where you're going to put your colors, but you can't control exactly how the dyes are going to migrate and mingle. For example in the scarf above, I painted with rust, brown, burgundy and black, but also got freebies of yellow and olive green when some of the dyes separated out.
