Last Thursday I gave a presentation called "Silk Painting: A Journey in Creativity" to the Fine Arts League of Cary, my local art organization. Once a month they have a program for members. This year the theme is creativity and I was honored to be invited to give a talk about silk painting, one of the most creative mediums you could hope to find!
Here are some photos of the event. The first 4 were taken by FALC president, Paulette Wright.
Instead of trying to explain in words what silk painting was, I thought a quick and simple demo would do the trick much better. I did it right it at the beginning so people would have a clue what I was talking about as we went along.
It was interesting trying to paint upside down so everyone could see!
Applying the magic ingredient... salt!
This was a great learning experience for me in figuring out how to use Power Point! While most of the examples I used were my work, I have to thank some other silk painters for allowing me to use their images to illustrate the many ways in which painted silk can be presented. These are the slides where their art was included:

Examining the demo at the end of the presentation
Although as a rule I loathe public speaking, I enjoyed doing this and I think helped some folks gain a new appreciation for silk painting!
