It seems like forever since I've done done any meaningful painting in my studio. Lots of other stuff going on. I admire those of you who commit to painting every day, no matter what. I'm really going to have to commit to making that commitment! :) But there's nothing like a looming deadline to get the old gears moving. I want to enter 2 pieces into a silk painting exhibit and I decided I'd like to enter something new. The deadline is May 15th - not much time but these will be small pieces so hopefully I can do it. The show is part of Silk in Santa Fe- a silk painting festival in August hosted by Silk Painters International (SPIN).
My drawing is a close up of a flower. My goal here is to have it look like an abstract, but which may turn out to be a flower on closer inspection. I'm using the batik technique with hot soy wax as my resist. Here 's the first painting with a couple of layers of dye and wax- more to come!
