Here's the start of my second painting from Beverly Ash Gilbert's photo. Ive chosen a small section of blossoms from the lower left of the photo.
I'm using a different technique this time. Instead of painting large areas at a time with layers of dye and wax, I've sized the silk first with dye thickener so the dyes don't run at all, and painting small areas at a time, almost to completion. This feels pretty wierd, since I'm so used to the dyes flowing, but it works well for doing hard shadows without any resist.
