Abstract Landscape

I liked the color combination from the last exercise, so I decided to use it again here, this time in a sorta landscape. I didn't really do this one in layers, but in successive bands of color from top to bottom. I let each color dry before applying the next one, and those wiggly hard edges formed as the upper edge of the wet dye met the lower, dry edge of the previous color.

At first I was going to leave it as in the 1st photo - I thought it had a nice calm feeling to it. Then I wanted to see what would happen if I added a tree. Notice how the addition of the diagonal lines of the tree makes the piece less passive. Neither piece is better or worse - just different.
