Nuno felting is a fabric felting technique. ‘Nuno’ means ‘cloth’ in Japanese. Loose wool and other fibers are layered on a light fabric like silk. Through a process of agitation, the loose fibers interlock with themselves and the silk to create a new fabric.
The process causes shrinkage of the fibers, and use of different types of fibers creates organic textures as each shrinks at a different rate. The result is a one-of-a-kind piece of wearable art that cannot be reproduced!

The main wool I use in my scarves is a very fine gauge merino - the softest sheep's wool for next-to-skin comfort.

Fibers in this shawl: Merino wool, embellished with shimmery silk fiber and silk threads; on a sheer silk chiffon base

Colors: Black, orange, red, pink, yellow, green.

Approx. Size: 15 x 70 in. (38 x 179 cm.)

Caring for Your Felted Scarf

  • Hand wash in cold water with mild detergent, dish soap or shampoo.
  • Squeeze gently but don't rub or wring.
  • Add a little fabric softener or hair conditioner to  final rinse to preserve softness.
  • Lay flat to dry. Gently stretch back into shape, just like you would a sweater.
