Now that I've tried my hand at nuno felting a couple of solid-color dyed scarves, I wanted to see how I'd do with a scarf painted with a design. This is a silk chiffon scarf that I had previously painted but thought that it was a little blah. Let's see if nuno felting can rescue it!
Using matching colors of wool roving and other yarns, I extended the length of the scarf and also followed some of the design within the scarf. Here are the two ends of the scarf with the fibers laid out. The wool is in a very thin layer, as I wanted it to remain light.

And after felting, the finished product in the photo below... a great improvement, I think!
I love all the wool textures and wrinkling of the silk fabric! (Click on the photo above for a closer look). I'm surprised at how light the felted wool ends are. They weigh nothing but allow the scarf to hang very nicely.
I wore this scarf to a gallery Open House and got a great response... I had more people feeling up my scarf than I care to mention :)
