Can a year still be called 'new' if we're already nearly halfway through February? I don't know. But since this is my first blog post for 2013, I'll take the liberty of calling it 'new'. Since being in the Caribbean for the whole month of December doing my solo show (previous post) and visiting family, I've fallen right off the social media wagon. No blogging, no Facebook, no Pinterest. But I realize that the longer I stay off, the harder it will be to get back on again. So here I am at last.
I was pleased to start off the year with getting my work into 2 new venues. First, I put my silk scarves in a new gallery that will soon have its Grand Opening in Beaufort, a picturesque waterfront town on the North Carolina coast. Artestry Hideaway is small but chock full of creative finds from NC artists. It opens right onto the boardwalk, so should get some good foot traffic in the summer months. It has a cool vibe, being right on the waterfront.
It's located at 412 Front Street Beaufort, NC. Hours are Mon-Sat: 9 - 9; Sunday: 2 - 6.
This slideshow shows some of my scarves and shawls at Artestry Hideaway. Sorry but I couldn't figure out how to make it pause! (Any Wordpress tecchies reading this who know to put a pause icon on a NextGen slideshow, please let me know!)
Next, I joined the Waverly Artists Group, another group of North Carolina artists in my area who display and work at the Waverly Artists Studio & Gallery. We have many different media represented. Here's my section of quilted silk paintings at the gallery.
The gallery has a really great selection of work. I'll post photos of some of the other artists' work later. WAG is located on the upper level of Waverly Place Shopping Center, at 302 Colonades Way, Suite 209, Cary, NC. Open Weds - Sat 11:45 - 6. Drop in if you're in the area!
