Falling Flower

I didn't get a chance to respond to comments on the last post, but please know how much I appreciate the encouragement, especially as I really didn't know what I was doing with this one.

Anyway I think I'm done! I added more swirls and shapes, set the dyes and washed out the resist to reveal the design lines. Sometimes at this stage I paint over the resist lines to make them blend into the painting, but in this case I like the graphic quality that they give the piece.

The red shapes coming from the upper left towards the flower reminded me of the tails of a shooting star, so I named it "Falling Flower".

While this turned out to be a fun piece, it's not quite what I had envisioned. Now don't ask me what I had envisioned because I couldn't tell you! You know when something's just nagging the back of your brain and you can't get it out? Well this is something like that - I don't know exactly what I want, but I'll know it when I see it and this isn't it just yet. So I think I'm on to something here but I need to experiment some more....
