Shibori Silk Scarf With Surprise Design

You really never know what you’re going to get with shibori. For this scarf I started with a white silk satin scarf that I had let soak in my ‘dirty’ rinse water, which gave me a lovely, soft greyish lilac background color. I then folded and clamped the scarf (top photo) and painted with a darker shade of grey-purple and a very dark eggplant dye.

The result was this interesting pattern with a kind of weathered look.

I got what looks to me like a turtle as part of the design. It even has eyes!

Ron thought this section looked more like a body-building Martian!

Either way the design has a rather primitive look to it, which I really like. Unfortunately, I could never reproduce this design again, no matter how hard I tried! What about you… do you see anything funky in the design?

Thanks for reading today…
