Artists by the nature of our profession are often solitary creatures in our work environments. This is one reason I’m thankful for local arts groups that give us a chance to socialize with other like-minded solitary creatures. Another benefit is more opportunities to show our work, as part of the group. Thanks to the Fine Arts League of Cary (FALC) and the Durham Art Guild (DAG), here are the silk paintings I have on exhibit now in my area.
These two semi-abstract batik paintings are at the Cary Ballet Conservancy, 3791 NW Cary Parkway, Cary NC until April 27th. FALC members have ongoing rotating exhibits here and I’ve been fortunate to have sold some paintings here in the past few years.

Walter Investigates a New Flower, 18 x 24. Dyes and wax on silk.

Flower Wild, 18 x 24. Dyes and wax on silk.
This is another batik technique piece, not so abstract! Inspired by a photo taken by beader and photographer Beverly Ash Gilbert, and featuring a poem she wrote about her photo. Cherry Blossoms ‘n Lace is at DAG’s Members Show in the SunTrust Gallery at 120 Morris St. in Durham. The show runs from February 17th – April 8th.

Thanks for reading today!
Your work is just luminous, Deborah. It is inspiring to see it.
What a lovely thing to say, Elizabeth! One of the reasons I paint on silk is that the natural luster of the silk does give the paintings a luminous quality, no matter what’s painted on it.
Oh how I wish I could come see these beauties in person! They are all wonderful works of art. Congrats on getting them out into the community. I anticipate that they will be well received.

Thank you Don. I’m so grateful for any kind of exposure… thanks to FALC especially, several of my paintings are always somewhere in the community.
